With increasing to have data put on disc and due to large amounts of memory in computers, backing up data or transferring data to a DVD is the way to go. All you have to do is remove them from that drive and fix them to the new drive. Another thing to look out for is the front panel or the plastic bezel. Ensure that it will fit the new DVD drive you plan to purchase. All bezels are different and it is most likely that you will have to find a specific bezel that will fit the exact drive you have bought. If you are unsure about these specs, speak to the seller and have him or her check out the bezel and the drive and see if they are compatible.
Sometimes a DVD drive may fail to be recognized by the BIOS even when it seems compatible to the laptop. Ion that case, enquire from the seller if the DVD drive can have a firm upgrade so that it can be recognized or the way round, a BIOS upgrade. By following these guidelines, you will have a new working DVD drive for your laptop.
